The NursingUSA Scoring System
Hospitals are recognized with one of four badges based on their record of directly hiring and sponsoring international registered nurses over the past three years. The scoring looks at activity across the EB-3, H-1B, F-1 (OPT/CPT with sponsorship), H-1B1, and E-3 visa categories.
Hospitals without any record of direct hiring or sponsorship in the last three years receive no badge. This means there has been no activity across EB-3, H-1B, H-1B1, E-3, or F-1 sponsorships, indicating no recent engagement with international nursing talent.
The Bronze badge is awarded to hospitals that have shown at least some activity in one visa category. This might be a few EB-3 hires, an occasional H-1B petition, or a small number of F-1 graduates sponsored for work. It signals an initial willingness to consider international nurses, though the effort remains limited in scope.
The Silver badge goes to hospitals with a broader and more consistent track record. These hospitals have engaged across multiple visa categories, combining EB-3 hires with H-1Bs, E-3s, or sponsorship of F-1 graduates. Their activity demonstrates an established process for hiring international nurses rather than isolated or one-time sponsorships.
The Gold badge is reserved for hospitals that stand out as leaders. They show both high volume and diversity in their international nurse hiring, with sustained activity across three or more visa categories. These hospitals are consistently sponsoring through EB-3 while also making use of H-1B, H-1B1, E-3, and F-1 pathways, reflecting a clear institutional commitment to global recruitment and retention.
